#1 Edina 7A vs. #2 Eden Prairie 7A

Hustle plays from the get go as Markel Aune gets on the floor for loose ball. He’s matched up with Kyler Kluge. Davis Jaeger scores the first bucket of the game for Eden Prairie. Edina struggled early to get penetration against the high energy Eden Prairie defense. It is clear that both groups are familiar with one another. Joe Dunn was a beast on the glass early for the Hornets. He and Gabe Kalscheur make a nice front court combo. The game was a 2-2 tie with 10:47 left in the first half. Antonio Montero did a fantastic job making things difficult for Edina. He is really tough defensively. Markel Aune set the tone for Edina, doing a great job on Kluge early. Bennett Maxwell made some really aggressive takes to the basket in the early going to tie the game up at 7-7 with 8:51 to go in the 1st. Luke Glenna knocked down a three and wiggled in for a floater to spark a 13-4 Edina run. Anders Nelson was a game time decision in this one with a banged up knee. Joe Dunn And1 puts Edina up 20-9. Christian Dickson from Eden Prairie is a nice player. EP scrapping and starting to do a better job getting to the bucket. 20-11 with 4:30 left in the first. Kalscheur now becoming problematic for EP. This kid is versatile. Kalscheur hits a jumper and then a three. Now up 27-14. Bennett Maxwell goes on a 4-0 of his own. EP needs Kluge to get it going offensively. Edina playing zone. Really bogging EP down. This Edina front court is a bear to handle between Charlie Wood, Joe Dunn, and Gabe Kalscheur. George Sanda plays really solid “tough guy” role. 34-17 with 21 seconds.

Aune back in the 2nd half after 1st half foul trouble. He gets steal and finish in transition followed by Kalscheur on the break. They are now up 38-18. 15-2 run by Edina to start the half. Kalscheur and Aune have owned the 2nd half. Up 51-20. Charlie Wood knocks down a three. 55-29. John Pappas knocks down jump shot for EP to cut the margin. Montero follow that up with a three. 55-34. Antonio Montero sparks a 9- 0 run for Eden Prairie. Cuts lead to 17. Game getting a little rough. Kids still playing really hard. Great effort by EP to battle back but too little, too late. Final score is 57-40.
